If you have ever wondered what actually happens between clicking "sign up" and landing your first project on OneForma, you are not alone. It is one of the most common questions we get, so we sat down live with our AI Global Recruiter, Zorana Raseta, to walk through it step by step. There are 8 steps in total.

What followed was a full breakdown of the onboarding journey, real answers to live questions from the community, and a few analogies that made the whole process click. Here is the recap, broken into the 8 steps that take you from registration to your first project.

Step 1: Sign Up & Registration

The very first step is simple: click sign up. From there, you will fill in the basics, first name, last name, email, but OneForma asks for something extra most platforms do not.

"Something is very specific about OneForma. We are looking for also the country of residence at this point, and we are also going to ask you to fulfill your legal name. The legal name is actually the name you have on your ID card. This is for the KYC, or Know Your Customer feature, we are using to actually see if we are dealing with a real person here."

Once your basic details are in, you will also need to read through and agree to the terms of use, GDPR policy, and cookie policy. Zorana was clear that this step is not just a formality, it is a required part of becoming a verified OneForma member.

Step 2: Complete Your Profile

After registration, the next page is where things get more specific to OneForma. This is where you upload your CV and start building out your profile.

"This is something what we're looking for. You have the opportunity actually to put your skills, to see what interest you have... You can pick your interests and this is something that we're actually looking into when we are screening users for the project."

Your CV, your listed skills, and your interests are what recruiters use to match you to the right project later on. Keeping this section current matters more than most new contributors realize.

Step 3: Set Up Your Payment Method

With your profile in place, it is time to connect a payment method. OneForma uses Tipalti, PayPal and Payoneer, and Zorana's advice here was direct.

"What we are actually seeing is that lots of individuals are not connecting immediately their payment method. If you do not do it immediately, and you work on the project, sometimes the payment can be delayed because you didn't put that on time. My advice for you is to complete every single piece of information on your account as soon as you can."

Setting this up early, even though it might feel like a task for later, saves real time and avoids payment delays down the line.

Step 4: Complete KYC Verification

KYC, or Know Your Customer, is the identity verification step, and it is quick, but it matters.

"KYC is a feature we are using to verify if someone is a real person behind it. This is something that protects actual people who are eligible for the project. It takes you two minutes to fulfill it. You need just your ID card and camera to do it."

One important reminder from the session: make sure your ID is current. Expired documents are one of the most common (and easily avoidable) reasons this step gets held up.

Step 5: Explore Project Types

Once your account is fully set up, you will start seeing projects tailored to your skills and interests. Zorana broke down the five main project types available on OneForma.

"We have evaluation, annotation and labeling, translation, data collection, and content creation. Evaluation, you will evaluate certain texts or images and say this is good, this is not good. Annotation and labeling, you will annotate and label image or text, whatever is needed. Translation is self-explanatory, you will translate from language to language. Content creation, also self-explanatory. And data collection, we can collect images, videos, audios..."

She was also clear that every one of these project types comes down to the same underlying expectation: quality.

Step 6: Complete Certification

Found a project that interests you? Before you can start, most projects require you to complete a certification. Zorana wanted to make sure this was not misunderstood as a test.

"It doesn't mean every single project has the certification, sometimes they don't, but most of them do. What actually is certification? It's not testing, it's a learning process. You will be guided through this certification, but you actually need to learn to get to the project. This is educational material that prepares you for actual work."

She also pointed out that OneForma offers open certifications for anyone who wants to explore new skills before applying, a great way to build your profile even before you have a specific project in mind.

Step 7: Sign the Statement of Work (SOW)

After certification, you will receive a Statement of Work, or SOW. This is the document that defines the relationship between you and the project.

"SOW explains what you're going to do on that project, what your responsibilities are, but also what the responsibilities of our community, our recruiters, our project managers are... You can see how much will be paid for that type of task, how many hours you need to be committed, also the scope of work. Please make sure you read it, and you sign it if you agree with it."

This is not a step to rush through. It is where pay, hours, and expectations are laid out clearly, so please, read it carefully before signing!

Step 8: Application Review & Approval

The final step is review. Once your certification and SOW are complete, your application moves to OneForma's recruitment team.

"When you finish the certification and you sign the SOW, the next step for you is to be reviewed by the recruiters. We are looking at your CV, your experience, your skills, your interests. People who have provided the most and the best information are the best qualified based on that information, and will most likely get the job."

On timing, Zorana gave a clear benchmark for what to expect.

"If you apply on a Monday and you finish everything, certification, SOW, signing, you can be approved by Tuesday or Wednesday. Basically three business days. If you're eligible for the job, you will be endorsed very quickly."

The Two Ideas Worth Remembering

Two analogies came up during the session that are worth holding onto.

The first is about your profile as a key. Every piece of information you add, your CV, your skills, your interests, makes that key stronger, unlocking more project opportunities. The more complete your profile, the more doors open to you.

The second is about persistence. As Zorana put it when asked what contributors can do to set themselves up for a stronger second week:

"Keep pushing. Probably you will not get a project in the first week, but if you continue to learn, build your account, search for projects, and apply, you will definitely get one."

It really is a numbers game. Not every project will be the right fit, and that is completely normal. What matters is that you keep your profile strong and keep applying as the right project is very often just one application away.
