How To Get Selected For OneForma Projects

What This Is About

Most experts who are not getting onto projects have not done anything wrong. They created an account and stopped there, and a recruiter can only pick what a profile actually shows.
This comes from our session with Alba Guix, Vice President of Operations at OneForma, who has spent more than fifteen years leading the recruitment and production teams that work most closely with experts.
You applied, you waited, and nothing came back. By the end of this post you will know how to get selected for OneForma projects in four steps, what happens after you press apply, and what to check first when you are not picked.

Complete Every Field On Your Profile

"When you create an account in OneForma, that's just the first step. Registering is opening the door, but that doesn't make your profile visible."
Recruiters make decisions from the information in front of them, so an empty field is a skill they cannot see. Fill in every one: contact details, languages, education, background, other skills. OneForma shows you a completion percentage for your profile, so you always know what is still missing. Aim for one hundred percent, and do it in your first week rather than postponing it.
Then upload an up-to-date resume. It carries the things the standard form never asks about, like hobbies, side experience or a niche skill, and some projects need exactly those. Do not be shy here. Asked which field experts underrate most, Alba did not hesitate: language. Most projects need a native speaker or a strong command of a language, so list every language you speak and your real level in each.

Step 1 of getting selected: complete every profile field and upload an up-to-date resume

Complete Your Identity Check And Add Payment Details

Alba's advice for your first 24 hours is two tasks: the identity check and your payment details. Get both out of the way, then you can focus fully on qualifying.
The identity check is called KYC, short for "know your customer." Safety, confidentiality and careful handling of personal information matter a great deal in this industry, and clients expect every expert on a project to be who they say they are. In Alba's experience the check usually takes a minute or two. Once it is done, recruiters can see you passed, which moves your profile further up the list.
Payment details feel like something for later. They are not. Alba has seen experts finish their work and not get paid on time, only because the details were never added, and then wonder why nothing arrived in their bank. Add them now, and every future project is simply ready to pay you.

Step 2 of getting selected: complete the identity check and add payment details in your first 24 hours

Treat The Qualification Test As A Briefing

Complex projects often have longer qualification steps, some inside OneForma and some in external tools. Yes, that can be frustrating. But the test is not a formality. It is how the client checks that you understand what the project needs, and some tasks are genuinely sophisticated. Think of it as your briefing for the work ahead.
The common mistake is rushing it. Most tests allow more than one attempt, but a rushed fail still slows your qualification down. If you fail, do not retry straight away. A failed attempt usually means the guidelines have not fully sunk in yet, and a rushed second try tends to give the same result. Go back, read again, and check that you could explain the rules to someone else before you try.
Passing pays off twice. Your completed qualifications stay on your profile, and recruiters see them automatically, so you do not need to point them out. A similar project may be around eighty percent the same, which means you only learn what is new and start ahead of everyone else.

Step 3 of getting selected: read the guidelines fully and treat the qualification test as a briefing

Apply Early And Plan Every Step

"It's not luck, because that is a process. Speed matters, but in the aspects where it has to matter."
Take your time on the profile and the guidelines. Be quick on the application. Projects need a set number of experts, clients want delivery fast, and recruiters do not wait a week to collect everyone before they start. They review as applications arrive. The first experts to apply and qualify are the first ones picked, and once the team is full, the project closes to new experts.
So check for new projects often. When you apply, look at how many steps the project needs. Some need one, some need ten. Count them, then plan them into your week. This evening or tomorrow morning is better than four or five days from now. You are organizing your own time, so give the qualification a real slot in it.

Step 4 of getting selected: apply early, count the qualification steps and plan them into your week

What Happens When You Press Apply?

When you press apply, a real recruiter reviews your application. They look at your qualification answers, your resume, your skills and your languages, and they decide based on what your profile shows. The more complete your information, the more likely you move from application to endorsement and then to the work itself.
Once your profile is complete, OneForma also starts suggesting suitable projects to you, based on what you have added. That saves you searching one by one, and it is one more reason to fill in everything.

Why Am I Not Getting Selected For OneForma Projects?

Most of the time, the reason is your profile. Before you contact the project team, open the project's requirements and compare them, line by line, with what your profile shows. A skill, a language or a background can be true and still not visible to the recruiter who reviews you.
"The first thing you need to double check is the profile. I would say ninety percent of the time, this is the issue."
If your profile is complete and you passed every step, there are two other honest reasons. The places may have filled before you finished, or another expert had more experience in that exact domain. Neither is a mark against you. Projects often reopen, especially long-term ones, and your completed qualifications mean a shorter path next time. Be patient, and do not panic.

Get Ready Before The Project Arrives

None of this depends on luck. Complete your profile, do the identity check and payment details in your first day, qualify with care, and apply as soon as a project fits you. That work is done once, and it counts for every project after it, so the next opportunity finds you ready instead of halfway there.
Find a project that knows your worth.
